Hi Class! We have been learning and working with percents in equations and proportions. Here is your assignment for today:You have just graduated college and have found your dream job as a ________ (insert job here - i.e. teacher, writer, actor, pro football player, doctor, nurse, etc.)! Let's pretend you will be making around $1200 per month, depending on overtime, bonuses, etc. Now here is the deal - you need to make sure you manage your money wisely. Answer the following questions:

1) Your rent plus utilities (gas, water, Internet, phone, etc.) is $540 a month! What percentage of your monthly income is this?

2) You spend about 6% of your income per month on your cell phone bill! What amount is this?

3) You usually spend around $200 per month on groceries. Find this percentage.

4) You spend about $40 per week on gas filling your car's gas tank! What percentage of your monthly income is spent on gas?
5) You like to use the remaining money and split it - using 60% on entertainment (movies, shopping, etc.) and putting the other 40% in savings. About how much money is spent on entertainment and how much is put in savings?

My dream job is to be a marine biologist.

1)My utilities percentage would be around 45%

2)My cell phone bill would cost $72.00 a month

3)My groceries percentage would be around 17%

4) My gas percentage would be around 13%

5)I would spend $136.80 on entertainment and i would put $91.20 in savings

polnomials post♥

In the video and websites, I knew everything now(since you already taught us it). but what came clearer to me is that you can't take two different variables like a and b and make it ab. I thought you could just combine n x n, and make it 2n, but really its just n squared. The sites that had the algebra tiles on it helped me understand how to use them better.

30 days, 30 ways to $ave

For this assignment, due October 23,

I want you to check out the link below:http://www.wkyc.com/money/consumer/personal_finance/save/default.aspxThis will take you to a link that gives tips to saving money living in Cleveland. Take a couple minutes to read the titles of the articles and find TWO that interest you. After you read them, answer these questions on your blog in COMPLETE sentences for each article:

1) What article did you chose and why?

2) How does it relate to you? (if not you, your parents, your grandparents, your aunts, uncles, older siblings, etc.)

3) What did learn from reading this article? Be specific!

One of the article I chose was 30 days, 30 ways to save: Hot sellers on eBay.. The reason why I chose this article is because my whole family uses eBay, especially my dad, he's always on it, buying or selling things. This doesn't just relate to my dad but to me too. Some of my instruments, shoes, clothes, or anything else we buy off eBay. Something I learned off this article is if your not sure how to price your idem when your trying to sell something, check out the current bidding on the same idem, and in the same condition that yours is in. To get rid of all the clutter, sell it on eBay and one of the biggest sellers right now is models trains and any kind of instrument. Another one of the articles that I chose was 30 days, 30 ways to save: Slash your grocery bill. I chose this article because my family goes though a lot a food each week. We go though at least 5 gallons of milk each week and we go though 4 loaves of bread each week. This article relates to, well my whole family, without food, we would die. My mom and my grandma love to cook, so we always have to have a little bit more than we really need. I'll go over to my grandmas' house and she'll always have at least to batches of cookies on the table. Something I learned from this article is that if you are that kind of person that hates cutting out coupons from magazines, there's a website that you can go to that has all the daily newspaper coupons to make saving money less of a hassle. Something else I learned is that on the websites, you can download the coupons on to your shopping card!! Now isn't that easy!!!

So, how many of you dream of the first car you will own? Well, in this assignment, let's pretend that you just graduated from college and your super-generous parents are going to buy you WHATEVER car you want! However, you have to pay for gas with hard earned money you will be making in your first job :) In this 15 point assignment due THIS Wednesday October 8, your job will be to figure out the following:

1) What car will you buy and why?

2) Google your car, go the car's website, then find out:

a) How many gallons does your gas tank hold?

b) How many miles do you get per gallon (mpg)?

3)Now you can figure out how much will it cost you to fill your tank. Use the link below to find local gas prices.http://www.gasbuddy.com

After I'm out of collage, the car I would want my parents to buy me is the new 2009 Honda Fit!!! Some reasons why I really want this car is that is has a lot of storage space, and just in case I get in a car crash, the Honda Fit has a 5 star crash rating and high levels of standard safety equipment. This car also has a USB, which is a system that you can plug your Ipod or MP3 player. Since I'll probally get lost once in a while, this car has a GPS built in to it!! The Honda Fit comes in many different colors like blackberry pearl, blue sensation pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, milano red, orange revolution met, storm siler metalic, taffeta white, and tidewater blue metalic. I think I wuold choose either the orange revolution met or the tidewater blue metalic. The best thing about this car is that it gets...34 miles per gallon!!!! The not so good fact is that it only holds 10.6 gallons, but thats okay because I would get a lot of miles per gallon. When i go to college, I want to go to Florida State University and become a marine bioligist. So right now he current price per gallon of gas in Florida is about $3.51. So by doing the math it will cost me.....only $37.21 to fill my whole tank!!! That's really cheap compraed to what we pay now. I will work extra hard to earn this car. Now I need to get a job to pay for the gas cost!!!:)
